Description:
Clutches are used extensively in modern machines and automobiles to allow the operator to connect or disengage the machine from an active power source.This mechanism is a radial friction clutch actuated by a lever. The lever moves an iron piece axially toward the cylinder. The axial motion appears to drive four iron or steel clutch pads against the inside rim of the cylinder. Each clamp is moved by a toggle linkage. When the clutch is disengaged the two cranks act independently. With actuation, the rotation of one crank will turn the other crank.
