Description:
The double slider or 'trammel' ellipse mechanism of Model S-2 is a well known straight-line mechanism. This mechanism was known as far back as the early 17th century. In this Model, Reuleaux adapts a partial double slider geometry in which the two prismatic guides are not perpendicular and have a limited travel so that they do not cross. It is not clear why he chose to call the mechanism "a triangle linkage" or "Dreiecklenker" in German. It is not discussed in his books.
