Description:
This positive return cam mechanism is based on the same principles described in models L-1, L-2, L-4. A crank turns a curved triangle that is in contact with two guides that in turn move a slider back and forth. The constraint between the rotating part and the guides was called by Reuleaux, a ' higher pair' because it was a line and not a surface contact. In contrast to models L1, L2, in this mechanism the guides are two curved surfaces whose normal distance is fixed along the guide. This allows the curved triangle to rotate and maintain contact with both sides of the constraint.
