Description:
This mechanism is a compound linkage of six links and seven cylindrical joints, not counting the free link and joint at the end of the upper lever. Such a device was used as a weighing mechanism. The outer links form a four-bar linkage coupled to two additional links that comprise the weighing platform and connecting link to ground. As the upper arm is rotated through small motions, the lower platform remains horizontal.
