Description:
This toothed wheel pair forms a simple closed kinematic chain with a single link, two cylindrical joints and one tooth contact joint. The contact of gear teeth is called a higher kinematic pair in contrast to lower pairs with surface contact. In contrast to the gear wheel pair of model C-7, the smaller planet gear rotates on the inside rim of the outer ring gear. The ring gear has 116 teeth and the planet gear has 36 teeth. If a central gear is added as in models G-2 and G-3, the compound gear train would be called a planetary gear train. Planetary trains are used in speed transmission subsystems of machines as in automobiles as well as servo-motors for robotic applications.
