Model: I01 Pappenheim Chamber Wheel Mechanism
Application: Pump.
This is the oldest form of chamber-wheel-gear, and the forerunner of modern gear pumps.... when used as a pump, the fluid is delivered in a continuous stream, the volume of flow per revolution being about equal to the annular space between the point and root cylinders.

It is known to have existed 300 years ago, and it can be used as a motor and as a pump, as well as a metering device. It has even been used as a stream engine, but not with great success.

The origin of the name is uncertain; it may have been the name of the inventor, or merely the name of the city where it originated.
