Model: D10 Double Slider Ellipsograph of Leonardo da Vinci
In the double slider-crank mechanisms of models D-8, D-9, there are four links connected by two revolute joints and two sliding or prismatic joints. In the double-slider model D-10, a plate is attached to one of the moving links. As the motion proceeds, a piece of chalk fixed to an arm will trace out an exact ellipse. Reuleaux designed adjustments to this model to change the parameters of the ellipse.

Reuleaux attributed this device to Leonardo da Vinci. This mechanism can be adopted on a lathe to cut a shaft of elliptic cross-section.
