Model: X09 Anchor Escapement with Lever

This escapement is a variation of the classic anchor and toothed wheel escape wheel. There is debate as to whether the inventor was the famous scientist, Robert Hooke or the clockmaker William Clement. The original anchor was directly connected to the pendulum regulator whereas in this model the anchor is connected to a balance wheel through a lever and pin mechanism. An anchor with a lever escapement was invented by Thomas Mudge (1715-1794). Reuleaux calls this a free anchor escapement.
