Model: D03 Turning Block Slider-Crank -Inversion
The slider-crank linkage is usually a mechanical circuit of four bodies joined together with three cylindrical joints and one sliding or prismatic joint. The Voigt models include a number of slider-crank mechanisms including models C-2, D-1-4. Different mechanisms can be created from this kinematic chain depending on what link is fixed or grounded. In Model D-3, the crank line with two cylindrical joints is fixed. This produces a circular motion of both the connecting link and the slot link. According to Reuleaux, Whitworth used this inversion as a quick-return mechanism. Reuleaux called this a turning-block slider-crank.
