Model: V09 Belt Drive to Demonstrate Slipping in a Pair of Pulleys and a Rubber Belt
This model contains two parallel pulley wheels with a connecting belt. The diameters of the two pulley cylinders appear to be equal. However, rotation of one crank turns the both wheels but rotation of the other crank appears to result in slipping. The title uses the German term “Gummiriemen” or rubber belt. The existing belt on this 1882 model appears to be leather. It is not clear as to what phenomena in belt drives this model was designed to show.
