Model: V04 Belt Guide for Parallel Axis Pulleys
Reuleaux called the V series of belt mechanisms part of a more general class of “tension organs.” Wills called them “wrapping connectors.” In this model, motion about a vertical axis pulley is transferred to another vertical axis pulley in a different horizontal plane using a pair of pulleys rotating about an axis transverse to the parallel input and output pulleys.

In 19th and early 20th century machine belts made of leather were widely used. To keep the belts from slipping off the pulley, the pulley circumference was crowned. (See Model V-2). In modern belt connectors ‘V’ groove pulleys are use as fan belts in automobiles.
