A simulation of a linkage mechanism to trace a straight line. The straight-line motion is generated with a single slider crank oblique to the linear motion, using a tracing arm that is fixed a special angle to the crank. This is an abstract model where pedestal and supports have been removed, leaving only the moving links and their constraints. Click and drag the sliding joint and watch the free end trace an ellipse.
